Nothing has expanded its premium audio lineup with the Headphone 1 Pro, a new flagship over-ear model designed to deliver more than conventional wireless listening. The company is positioning the headphones for everyday users as well as music creators, producers and audio professionals, with a major focus on studio-style sound.

The new model arrives with a triple-driver architecture, advanced active noise cancellation, spatial audio, Hi-Res playback and a dedicated Flat EQ switch developed with London-based Metropolis Studios. Nothing has also retained its distinctive design language while upgrading the construction with premium materials. The Nothing Headphone 1 Pro is priced at $399 and officially goes on sale from September 29, 2026.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro: What Makes It Different?

The biggest change compared with the previous-generation Headphone 1 is the audio architecture.

Instead of relying on a single driver in each earcup, the new Pro model uses three drivers per side. There is a 40mm dynamic driver for bass, a precision dynamic driver for vocals and midrange frequencies, and an xMEMS driver dedicated to treble.

This approach allows each driver to concentrate on a particular section of the frequency range. According to Nothing, the system is designed to deliver stronger bass, more detailed vocals and clearer instruments.

The company says the bass system delivers 15% more punch and 26% greater sensitivity, while the precision driver uses a PEN diaphragm to improve vocal texture. The xMEMS treble driver uses a silicon diaphragm designed for fast transient response.

Studio Tuning With Metropolis Studios

The most interesting feature of the Headphone 1 Pro is arguably its focus on studio listening.

Nothing collaborated with Metropolis Studios, a major London recording and mastering facility, to develop the headphone’s tuning. The collaboration has resulted in a dedicated Flat EQ mode.

When Flat EQ is activated, the headphones aim for a more neutral presentation with less artificial coloration and processing. This is intended for activities such as reviewing recordings, producing music and mixing tracks.

The headphones also include a Studio B Dynamic Spatial Audio mode inspired by Metropolis Studios. Nothing says this creates a wider and more open soundstage for focused listening.

For regular music listening, users can switch back to other sound profiles. Nothing X also offers custom EQ options, including profiles created around genres such as Neo-Jazz, Rock, UK Rap + Grime, Electronica and Bass.

Triple-Driver System Explained

The three-driver setup is at the heart of the Headphone 1 Pro experience.

Driver Purpose
40mm Dynamic Driver Bass and low frequencies
Precision Dynamic Driver Vocals and midrange
xMEMS Driver Treble and high-frequency detail

The 40mm driver uses a dual-magnetic system and PET dome with a metal-ceramic coating. The precision driver uses a PEN diaphragm, while the xMEMS unit handles the high-frequency portion of the audio spectrum.

Nothing lists a frequency response range of 20Hz to 40kHz and supports Hi-Res Audio for both wireless and wired listening.

With USB-C, the headphones can support lossless playback at up to 24-bit/192kHz, while LDAC is available for compatible wireless devices.

Up to 46dB Active Noise Cancellation

The Nothing Headphone 1 Pro also gets the company’s most advanced ANC system so far.

There are 10 microphones in total, with five microphones used for hybrid ANC on each side. The headphones can provide up to 46dB of active noise cancellation, according to Nothing.

The system uses real-time adaptive ANC to analyze the surrounding environment and adjust noise cancellation. A new silicone sound seal and two-layer cushion system are also designed to reduce outside noise.

For situations where users need to hear their surroundings, Transparency Mode lets environmental sounds pass through while maintaining natural voices.

This makes the Headphone 1 Pro suitable for multiple environments, including offices, flights, public transport and home listening.

Battery Life Up to 68 Hours

Battery life is another major part of the new headphones.

The Headphone 1 Pro packs a 1,060mAh battery. Nothing claims up to 68 hours of playback with ANC switched off using AAC. With ANC enabled, the claimed battery life drops to 30 hours.

LDAC playback offers up to 53 hours with ANC off and up to 28 hours with ANC on.

Fast charging is also supported. A five-minute charge can provide up to four hours of playback with ANC off, while ANC-on playback can deliver up to two hours from the same five-minute charge.

Premium Transparent Design

Nothing has kept the distinctive visual identity of its headphones but upgraded the construction of the Pro version.

The Headphone 1 Pro uses aluminum, titanium accents and 9H Panda Glass elements. The design also gets a wider headband and thicker padding compared with the previous model. The company says the headband is 10% wider and padding is 12% thicker.

The headphones weigh around 327 grams.

They are also rated IP52 for dust and water resistance, although this does not make them suitable for heavy rain or immersion.

Unlike some premium headphones, the Headphone 1 Pro does not fold. Nothing instead provides a hard-shell carrying case with protective TPU lining.

Physical Controls Without Reaching for Your Phone

Nothing has continued with tactile physical controls rather than relying entirely on touch gestures.

The roller can be rotated to adjust volume and clicked to play or pause music. A long press can switch between ANC and Transparency modes.

A paddle allows users to skip tracks and control calls, while another physical button can be customized through the Nothing X app.

The new Flat EQ switch is particularly useful for users who want to move quickly between a neutral studio profile and their normal listening configuration.

Bluetooth 6.1, Auracast and Wired Audio

Connectivity has also received an upgrade.

The Headphone 1 Pro supports Bluetooth 6.1, dual-device connectivity and low-latency mode through the Nothing X application. It also supports AAC, SBC and LDAC for music playback.

The headphones include a 3.5mm audio connection as well as USB-C.

Another notable addition is Auracast, allowing compatible audio to be broadcast wirelessly to multiple headphones or receivers.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Price and Availability

The Nothing Headphone 1 Pro has been launched at $399, making it $100 more expensive than the original $299 Headphone 1.

The headphones go on sale from September 29, 2026, through Nothing’s online store and selected retailers.

For India, Nothing’s official product page confirms the Headphone 1 Pro lineup and specifications, though pricing and availability can vary by market.

Final Take

The Nothing Headphone 1 Pro represents a significant move into the premium headphone segment. Rather than simply adding a more expensive version of its existing model, Nothing has focused heavily on the audio architecture, introducing three drivers per ear, xMEMS technology, advanced ANC and studio-oriented tuning.

Its collaboration with Metropolis Studios and dedicated Flat EQ switch are particularly notable because they target users who want to hear a more neutral version of their recordings rather than simply emphasizing bass or treble.

At the same time, features such as 68-hour maximum battery life, Bluetooth 6.1, LDAC, Auracast, spatial audio and physical controls make the headphones suitable for everyday users.

With its $399 price tag, the Headphone 1 Pro enters a competitive premium headphone category. Its combination of distinctive Nothing design and studio-focused audio features makes it one of the company’s most ambitious audio products so far.
