Tata Sierra Legend Series Launched: Price Starts at ₹11.99 Lakh, New Variants Get More Premium Features

Tata Sierra Legend Series has officially been launched in India, giving buyers more feature-loaded variants of the popular mid-size SUV. Tata Motors has introduced five new Legend Series trims with additional comfort, technology and convenience features, while the existing Sierra range will continue to be sold alongside them. The new series starts at ₹11.99 lakh ex-showroom and goes up to ₹19.49 lakh ex-showroom, depending on the variant and powertrain.

The launch comes at a time when the mid-size SUV segment is becoming increasingly competitive, with buyers looking for premium cabin features, automatic transmissions, strong safety equipment and multiple engine choices. With the Sierra Legend Series, Tata is essentially spreading several desirable features to lower and mid-level variants rather than limiting them to the expensive versions.

Tata Sierra Legend Series Price in India

The new Tata Sierra Legend Series price starts at ₹11.99 lakh for the Smart+ L petrol manual. The range is available with petrol and diesel engines, along with manual and automatic transmission choices. According to launch details, Legend Series variants carry a premium of roughly ₹50,000–₹70,000 over their corresponding standard versions.

Tata Sierra Legend Series Variant Starting Ex-Showroom Price
Smart+ L ₹11.99 lakh
Pure L ₹13.79 lakh
Pure L (O) ₹14.29 lakh
Pure+ L ₹14.99 lakh
Adventure+ L ₹16.99 lakh
Top-spec configuration Up to ₹19.49 lakh

The exact price varies according to the engine and transmission combination. The complete Legend Series range covers multiple petrol and diesel configurations.

Five New Legend Series Variants

Tata Motors has introduced five variants under the new series:

  • Smart+ L
  • Pure L
  • Pure L (O)
  • Pure+ L
  • Adventure+ L

The ā€œLā€ suffix differentiates these vehicles from the existing Sierra variants. Importantly, Tata has not discontinued the previous range. Existing Sierra variants continue to be offered and have been grouped under the Signature Series naming structure.

This means buyers now have more configurations to choose from, although the expanded lineup also makes the Sierra variant selection more complicated.

Smart+ L Gets Premium Cabin Touches

The entry-level Tata Sierra Smart+ L is particularly important because Tata has added several features that are usually associated with higher variants.

The Smart+ L gets leatherette treatment for the seats and selected cabin areas, steering-mounted controls, auto-folding ORVMs and Passive Entry & Passive Start. These changes give the entry Legend Series version a more premium feel without moving too far up the price ladder.

For buyers who want the Sierra’s design and core package without moving to a higher trim, the Smart+ L provides a different equipment mix compared with the standard Smart+.

Pure L Adds More Technology

Moving to the Pure L, the equipment list becomes considerably richer. This variant gets 17-inch alloy wheels along with a larger infotainment display.

The Pure L features a 26.03 cm touchscreen infotainment system, an eight-speaker audio setup, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, Hill Descent Control and TPMS. A reverse parking camera with guidelines and a height-adjustable driver’s seat are also part of the added equipment package.

These additions make the Pure L a technology-focused step above the entry version.

Pure L (O) Brings Panoramic Sunroof

The Pure L (O) takes the feature list further by adding a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof. Automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers are also included.

A panoramic sunroof has become an increasingly popular feature in India’s SUV market, particularly among customers looking for a more premium cabin experience. Tata’s decision to introduce it within the Legend Series broadens access to this feature.

Pure+ L Gets Ventilated Seats and Boss Mode

The Pure+ L focuses heavily on cabin comfort. One of its major additions is ventilated front seats.

The variant also gets a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with a thigh-support extender and Boss Mode. Dual-zone fully automatic climate control and dual rear 65W USB-C fast-charging ports further improve the comfort and convenience package.

These features were previously positioned higher in the Sierra range, making their availability in the Legend Series notable for buyers shopping below the top-end versions.

Adventure+ L Is the Feature-Rich Version

At the top of the new Legend Series hierarchy sits the Adventure+ L.

This version adds a 360-degree HD surround-view camera system, multiple terrain modes, Superglide Suspension with FDD, front parking sensors and ambient lighting. It also receives a larger 31.24 cm touchscreen infotainment system and a 26.03 cm digital cockpit with navigation.

Other additions include a two-stage reclining rear seat, wireless charging and a cooled glovebox. These features position the Adventure+ L as the most equipment-heavy trim within the new five-variant Legend Series.

Tata Sierra Legend Series Engine and Gearbox Options

The mechanical package remains largely unchanged with the introduction of the Legend Series. Tata continues to offer the Sierra with three 1.5-litre powertrain options:

  • Revotron petrol
  • Hyperion TGDi petrol
  • Kryojet diesel

Depending on the variant, buyers can choose manual or automatic transmission options. The Legend Series therefore focuses mainly on equipment and variant positioning rather than introducing a new engine.

The availability of petrol and diesel options gives the Sierra flexibility in a segment where customers have different priorities, from city driving to highway touring.

Safety Features Remain a Major Highlight

Safety continues to be an important part of the Sierra package. The SUV has a 5-star Bharat NCAP-rated body structure, while six airbags, electronic stability programme with more than 20 functions and all-wheel disc brakes are offered as standard.

The higher Legend Series trims also add features such as a 360-degree camera and front parking sensors, helping with visibility during tight parking situations.

Tata Sierra Design Continues to Stand Out

The Legend Series does not represent a major exterior redesign. Instead, Tata has concentrated on expanding the equipment available across the range.

The Sierra’s modern interpretation of its historic design remains one of its key attractions. The SUV features a distinctive front-end design, connected lighting elements, flush-type door handles and a strong SUV stance. Existing Sierra specifications include panoramic sunroof and 19-inch alloy wheel options on higher variants.

The result is a vehicle that combines the nameplate’s retro connection with a modern SUV design language.

Tata Sierra Legend Series vs Existing Sierra

One of the biggest points to understand is that the Legend Series does not replace the existing Sierra lineup.

Tata continues to sell the previous variants, which are now grouped under the Signature Series. The new Legend versions sit alongside them and offer additional equipment for a premium.

The standard Sierra range continues to start at around ₹11.49 lakh ex-showroom, while the new Legend Series begins at ₹11.99 lakh. This gives customers the option of choosing between the standard equipment configuration and the more feature-focused Legend Series.

Competition in the Mid-Size SUV Market

The Tata Sierra competes in one of India’s most competitive SUV categories. Buyers can consider models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Renault Duster and other mid-size SUVs.

The Legend Series gives Tata another way to address customers who may want premium features without immediately moving to the most expensive Sierra trims.

Rather than relying solely on a new design or mechanical update, Tata’s strategy here is focused on feature distribution across the range.

Tata Sierra Legend Series: What Makes It Different?

The main highlight of the new series is not a new engine or dramatic styling change. Instead, Tata has taken features such as leatherette interiors, larger screens, ventilated seats, powered driver’s seat, Boss Mode, panoramic sunroof and 360-degree camera and spread them across multiple variants.

This approach creates a wider choice for buyers with different budgets.

The Smart+ L concentrates on basic premium touches, Pure L adds technology, Pure L (O) introduces additional convenience and sunroof features, Pure+ L focuses on comfort, while Adventure+ L brings more advanced technology and capability equipment.

Final Words

The Tata Sierra Legend Series has arrived in India with prices starting at ₹11.99 lakh ex-showroom. With five new variants, three 1.5-litre powertrain options and multiple manual and automatic configurations, the new series significantly expands the Sierra’s choice of equipment.

The biggest change is the availability of premium features lower down the range. Leatherette interiors, larger infotainment screens, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, powered driver’s seat, Boss Mode and a 360-degree camera are now spread across different Legend Series trims.

For Tata Sierra buyers, the new lineup means more configurations to consider, while the existing Sierra range continues alongside the Legend Series. As a result, Tata is positioning the Sierra with a broader spread of features and prices as competition in India’s mid-size SUV market continues to intensify.
